Company Information

Knoxville Utilities Board was created by an amendment to the Knoxville City Charter in 1939. As an independent agency of the City of Knoxville, KUB provides electric, gas, water, and wastewater services to more than 439,000 customers in Knoxville and parts of seven surrounding counties. KUB believes utility service should be so reliable that customers can take it for granted, and we work hard to maintain such reliability.

KUB is governed by seven commissioners who serve seven year terms. Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor of Knoxville and confirmed by City Council.  The Board of Commissioners appoints a President & CEO, who in turn appoints other officers.

KUB operates under the provisions of its charter, by-laws, and the rules and regulations for each operating system.
