Private Lateral Program Helps Protect Our Environment, Your Property

The Consent Decree requires KUB to operate a Private Lateral Program (PLP). The PLP helps protect our environment by ensuring that property owners fix their laterals and remove prohibited connections.

Broken laterals can overload KUB's sewers with rainwater and contribute to overflows. Leaking laterals can also pollute area waterways. And broken laterals may cause sewage backups in homes.

Lateral inspections follow PACE 10 improvement projects. KUB reviews inspection data and mails packets to customers with problems. The packets include an enforcement schedule, information about potential financial aid, and a number to call [594-8270] for information to appeal the repair finding.
