Tips for the Winter
 - Open the drapes on sunny days, but make sure to close them once the sun is down.
- Reduce or eliminate the use of gas logs or other non-essential gas appliances.
- Place a sheet of aluminum foil between the radiator and the wall (if it is located near a cold wall) to reflect heat back into the room.
- Close vents and doors to unused areas for gas systems (but not for electric systems).
- Close the fireplace damper and consider placing an inflatable-type insulator in the chimney. (Make sure to remove the insulation and open the damper before lighting a fire.)
- Plant evergreen trees on the north side of your home as insulation and as a windbreak.
- Set ceiling fans to "reverse" [you won't feel a breeze under them] to circulate warm air.
