Community Involvement and Education

Part of KUB’s commitment to running a safe, environmentally friendly biosolids program includes educating our community and involving stakeholders and interested citizens. In addition to offering information on our Web site, we meet our commitment through a standing committee called the Partners Council and by taking advantage of community events like Ag-in-the-Classroom’s Farm Day.

The Partners Council meets every other month to discuss wastewater and water quality topics. Its members include representatives from health care and public health, local government, human service agencies, environmental groups, neighborhood and homeowner groups, economic development groups, large wastewater customers, and KUB staff.

KUB also participates in the annual Ag-in-the-Classroom Farm Day. That gives us an opportunity to talk about biosolids, wastewater treatment, and the quality of our waterways with about 1,500 students, teachers, and parents.
