Did you know that recycling, including composting, helped keep more than 80 million tons of materials out of landfills and incinerators in 2006? That's true, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Recycle whenever and wherever possible to reduce your waste size at home and at work. Recycling provides these benefits:

  • Conserves natural resources
  • Prevents emissions of many greenhouse gases and water pollutants
  • Saves energy
  • Supplies valuable raw materials to industry
  • Stimulates the development of greener technologies
  • Reduces the need for new landfills and incinerators

Also, buy recycled products to go green at home and at work. For example, instead of buying regular paper, look for printer/copier paper made from post-consumer recycled products. Check catalogs to see which items are made with recycled products.

KUB offers a materials reuse program to allow the public to beneficially reuse materials that are no longer of value to KUB and would otherwise be sent to the landfill. Materials currently offered include wood utility poles, pallets, empty wire reels, and wood crates and timbers. Customers interested in using wood utility poles may access Safety Data Sheets here.
