Safe Planting Around Pad Mounted Transformers

Pad-mounted transformers aren’t pretty. But if you want to try to hide your transformer, plan ahead to allow KUB crews the access they need for maintenance and to restore power more quickly during outages.

Please keep landscaping, fencing, etc., six feet away from the front of the transformer and three feet from the back and sides. And allow room for plants to grow and still meet the clearance requirements above at maturity. As required by TN law, call 811 before digging.

KUB crews may need to remove obstructions within this safety zone during maintenance or outage repairs. KUB does not replace any obstructions that have to be removed.
