Sewer Overflows
KUB works hard to maintain and upgrade its wastewater system to prevent sewer overflows. Wastewater system work conducted under the Century II program, for example, helps to reduce the number of overflows significantly.
KUB uses a coordinated mix of tools to address overflows. They include ongoing maintenance programs, construction projects to rehabilitate or replace pipes, and wet weather wastewater storage.
Despite KUB's best efforts, however, overflows still occur, especially during heavy rainfall. Customers can read the SSO Log for a list of overflows and their cleanup status.
To help protect customer property and prevent overflows, customers can learn more on properly disposing of cooking grease and maintaining a sewer lateral and clean out.
